If I did not have the day off, I probably would be dwelling on endless political back-and-forth and missing fun stuff like this travel piece from the Navajo Times, “Sheep Springs is the gateway to everywhere,” and this great 1982 photo of World Champion bull rider Charles Sampson from the National Finals Rodeo.
I know we newspaper people live in glass houses, tossing around criticism of others as we do daily. The return of favor also is daily. I take it seriously but felt overly embattled this morning — at least on my day off — when I encountered this offering from the Nieman folks at Harvard, “Journalists need to think more critically about weather maps.”
Thanks for the help, Harvard, but not today.
